Charlotte
Founder & Principal
Hello! I'm Charlotte, Principal of Drama Geeks. I'm also a proud mother of three - though at times it feels like four, as Drama Geeks has truly become my fourth child. Next year marks an exciting milestone as we celebrate ten years of Drama Geeks - proof that time really does fly when you're doing what you love.
I've always had a strong interest in both performing and teaching. After several years working in London as a performer, I returned home and founded Drama Geeks, where I now enjoy sharing my experience and passion for the arts with children and young people.
I studied Education with English and Drama at the University of Cambridge, completing both my BA and MA before moving to London to work in theatre. My performance experience includes appearing in the West End production of Noises Off by Michael Frayn, as well as working with the Royal Ballet in productions such as The Nutcracker, A Winter's Tale, Anastasia and Swan Lake. I also set up and ran a small theatre company on the London fringe, where I was involved in a range of productions from Shakespeare to contemporary plays.
Alongside my acting work, I have continued my training in dance and singing, and studied voice and piano from a young age. One of my earliest experiences in performance was appearing on ITV's Stars in Their Eyes Kids.
"Watching young people grow in confidence, discover who they are, and support one another through performing is incredibly rewarding. I especially love teaching harmonies and hearing the shows come together piece by piece over time. Being part of a space where everyone is encouraged to be themselves, be creative, and shine is such a privilege."
Georgina Whale-Spencer
Musical Director & Drama Tutor
Georgie first joined the Drama Geeks team at just 17 years old, working as part of the Saturday morning staff team when the school was still in its early stages with only a small number of students. From the very beginning, she developed a love for helping young people grow in confidence through the performing arts and quickly discovered the positive impact theatre can have on both individuals and communities.
After leaving Drama Geeks to continue her studies, Georgie attended York St. John University where she studied Drama: Education & Community, specialising in children's theatre, Theatre in Education, and drama facilitation for adults and young people with additional needs. Alongside her studies, she toured schools across York delivering workshops on behalf of the NSPCC for their "It's Not Okay" project, using theatre and education to support important conversations with young people.
Georgie has professional experience both onstage and behind the scenes, particularly within children's theatre and pantomime productions. Her academic research focused on catharsis in theatre, exploring how performance can help audiences and performers process emotion and trauma, and the ways theatre can create meaningful emotional connection and self-expression.
In 2024, Georgie returned to Drama Geeks after moving back to South Shields and was welcomed back into the team with open arms, this time taking on the role of Musical Director. Alongside musical direction, she also supports with assistant directing, choreography, and a variety of creative projects across the school.
Laura Fulgenzi
Musical Theatre Tutor
Laura teaches in our Saturday Morning Production class. Though relatively new to Drama Geeks, she has been teaching Musical Theatre for the last five years and loves meeting and working with so many young people. As a performer herself, she finds it invaluable to stay active in the industry, keeping her finger on the pulse of professional standards and passing that energy and passion on to the next generation of aspiring performers.
Outside the studio, Laura works in social media and creates Geordie-based skits and comedy content for fun. You can follow her at @laurabfulgenzi on TikTok and Instagram.

Originally from Kent, Sally moved up north in 2022 and hasn't looked back since. She studied Acting & Physical Theatre at college before going on to train in Musical Theatre at university.
After that, Sally spent several years working in entertainment with Haven Holidays, performing as a Production Vocalist in full-scale shows before progressing to Entertainment Manager. She then joined Parkdean Resorts as a solo vocalist and Entertainment Manager, and was proud to achieve Entertainment Manager of the Year and Park of the Year in her very first season.
More recently, Sally stepped back from touring and now works as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, a role she absolutely loves.
"Working at Drama Geeks is such a joy. I love seeing each child grow in confidence, develop their skills, and most importantly, have fun. Being part of their journey and watching them shine on stage is the most rewarding part of what I do."

"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players; they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts..."
Sheila Tait
Drama Tutor
Being a professional actor for more years than she cares to mention, Sheila started her career in community theatre in and around the North East, before moving to London where she was asked to perform in a tour of the Royal National Theatre's production of Hiawatha around the UK - a highly physical production that saw Sheila at the top of a human pyramid for the curtain call.
She played Alison in John Godber's comedy On the Piste, first at the Derby Playhouse and then into the Garrick Theatre in London's West End, before returning to her roots to play Hannah in The Fifteen Streets (an adaptation of Catherine Cookson's novel) at The Playhouse Theatre, also in London's West End.
Sheila performed in Dubai and India with a production of The Mousetrap, and has landed many TV roles including Crocodile Shoes, All Creatures Great and Small, Casualty, the BBC series Nature Boy, a long stint on Crossroads, and more recently was carried down a corridor by her elbows in the children's series Danny and Mick. Alongside stage and TV work, she has appeared in hundreds of training films and commercials.
Alongside her performance career, Sheila works in the corporate world and medical field, training people in communication - a role that has taken her to some remarkable places around the world.
Being given the chance to work at Drama Geeks alongside her niece Charlotte Reid, the dedicated team, and talented children has kept Sheila busy and happy over the last ten years.
